New work in film and theatre from underrepresented areas.
Deadman was founded after becoming frustrated with seeing the same thing again and again on stage and in film. Seeing the different communities both culturally and creatively in Birmingham that were being ignored. We wanted to try and create something that inspired and connected the real grassroots creatives in Birmingham in new and interesting ways. This started with our new writing nights at The Mockingbird in Digbeth which were broadcast live and filmed as a document to help creatives develop their work. We have been lucky to produce work consistently to this day. We have a fundamental belief in stories from different backgrounds founded on a difficult upbringing financially, educationally and culturally on the Isle of Wight.
